Abstract
Cannabinoids have shown potential as protective agents against kidney and liver toxicity, with therapeutic properties such as anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. These compounds have been found to modulate cell death pathways, potentially reducing organ damage. Inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis are common factors associated with kidney and liver diseases, and cannabinoids have demonstrated the ability to mitigate these processes. Experimental studies and preclinical models have shown that cannabinoids activate specific receptors and modulate signaling pathways involved in inflammation and cell death, leading to beneficial effects on these organs. However, challenges regarding standardized dosing protocols and potential drug interactions need to be addressed. Further research is required to determine the optimal dosages, frequency, and duration of cannabinoid treatment to ensure safety and efficacy. Despite these challenges, cannabinoids show promise in mitigating kidney and liver toxicity, offering potential as novel therapeutic interventions for related disorders.
